This aria is from the Spanish zarzuela, "Luisa Fernanda," written by Federico Moreno Torroba. The zarzuela is set in Madrid during the Glorious Revolution of 1868. This is Friedrich Bhaer's aria from the opera "Little Women" by Mark Adamo. The text is based on a poem written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Friedrich first recites the poem to himself in German, something that resonates deeply within his soul. Your voice has immediate appeal to the listener. Beautiful tone beyond your years. With care and careful choices, you should reach "the top". Would love to hear you do opera in actual performance, beginning with Mozart, Donizetti, and later definitely, Puccini, graduating to the "heavy boys" later. Great sound and greater potential.

One of my favorite songs splendidly rendered. Try "utubing" john Charles Thomas version from way back if you haven't already done so.
Mr Smith, you are one of those comparatively rare voices that have immediate appeal to the listener's ear. A beautiful natural tone that can only improve with time and study. Your talent for the art song is obvious, opera should be on your agenda as well. Your winning the prize in 2019 comes as no surprise.
